If you stop anyone right now, and ask them which game they were looking forward to in 2026, at least five out of 10 would say Grand Theft Auto VI. Over 10 years in the making, with some serious money being pumped into it (reportedly $2 billion), this will no doubt be the biggest release of the decade. While this would eclipse everything else being released, here is a list of games you should also be watching out for:
Resident Evil: Requiem
Release Date: February 27, 2026
Stylised as Re9uiem, this is the ninth installment of Capcom’s horror fiesta, Resident Evil featuring a truly fearsome monster that follows you and the return of Leon S Kennedy, who with Grace Ashcroft, must investigate a post-nuclear Racoon City. Incidentally, this being the 30th anniversary of the series, tying the narrative back to the site of the very first game could be a refreshing way forward.

Housemarquee is known for their blistering-bullet hell games and their latest looks to be even more hellish. Saros follows Arjun Devraj, played by Rahul Kohli, an enforcer on a lost off-world colony caught in a time loop. 007 First Light
Release Date: March 26, 2026
Who better to make a James Bond game than the folks behind the Hitman, Agent 47 series? Known for their large sandbox levels which hide countless ways to assassinate your target, First Light is an origin story for 007 as we see a younger and more brash James Bond take on missions with a bit more shaken and less stirred. It features Gemma Chan and Lenny Kravitz as potential targets or the help that you encounter on your first spy mission.

Onimusha: The Way of the Sword
Release Date: Sometime in 2026
2026 will be the year where we finally get a new Onimusha, the last of which was released way back in 2006. A supernatural samurai action game, The Way of the Sword features a brand new protagonist who now wields the powerful Oni Gauntlet, an artifact that grants the power of slaying all forms of demons known as Genma. It would be interesting to see how Capcom alters the signature samurai combat into the realms of gameplay mechanics of today.
