The trailer of Malayalam star Tovino Thomas’ upcoming film, Pallichattambi, was unveiled by the makers on Sunday (April 5). Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, the film is set to release in theatres on April 10.

“He will come to set ablaze that land until nothing remains. He will come to sever the veins of that land one by one. He is the rightful sovereign of that land,” goes a voiceover as we are taken into a period story set in the ‘50s and ‘60s. Meanwhile, the head priest of the church of Kunnumpuram declares that the townsmen must find the strongest goon around and bring him to their village to help fight the atrocities they are subjected to by authorities.

And thus we are introduced to the titular ruffian, played by Tovino, a bulky brute who can take on many men at once. In a few shots, we can see him teach self-defence to the villagers, all while an evil policeman vows to decimate Kunnumpuram. The action-packed trailer promises an adrenaline-pumping, rooted action-adventure story on the cards.

Pallichattambi also stars Kayadu Lohar, who debuted in Malayalam with Pathonpathaam Noottandu (2022), directed by Vinayan. She was also seen in the Oru Jaathi Jaathakam (2025) and Dragon (2025), headlined by Pradeep Ranganathan.

Tijo Tomy heads the film’s cinematography while Sreejith Sarang handles the editing. Rajesh Menon helms the art direction department. S Suresh Babu has written the screenplay.

Pallichattambi is produced by Noufal-Brijeesh and CCC Brothers, under the banner of World Wide Films and C Qube Bros. It is Dijo’s fourth directorial venture. His last film, Malayalee from India (2024), failed to do well at the box office. He debuted in 2018 with the campus drama, Queen.
